This page will be updated periodically throughout the year to show various landscapes and new pictures as landscapes mature, including my landscape, so please check back. Click on individual landscapes below for photos and additional information. This is the prairie garden in my side yard 1.5 years after planting.

  • Lincoln Park Landscape - Total lawn to prairie garden backyard conversion, with patio redesign and renovated upper garden.

  • Bartlett Landscape Phase 1 -  A new native landscape providing wildlife habitat, privacy, erosion control, and enhancing views.

  • Wheaton Landscape - Renovation and new landscape for 2 corner areas in a shaded sloped yard surrounded by black walnuts, using plants attractive to wildlife.

  • Geneva Landscape - Native landscaping and paths were added to a large front yard under existing oaks and hickories where lawn failed to grow.

  • Geneva Landscape #2 - Front and back yard landscape, with a meditation garden and "council ring" in back.

  • Brookfield Landscape - Redesign of a small backyard to attract birds but keep a small area of lawn for the family pet.

  • St. Charles School Outdoor Classroom - Creation of new outdoor classroom to provide hands-on nature and outdoor learning experiences during the school day.

  • Denise's yard - Check here periodically for my personal landscaping and nature experiences, notes, observations, and photos.  (Under construction).

It is often remarked that native plants are course.  How humiliating to hear an American speak so of plants with which the Great Master has decorated his land.  To me no plant is more refined than that which belongs.....To try to force plants to grow in soil and climate unfitted for them and against nature's methods will sooner or later spell ruin. Besides, such a method tends to make the world commonplace and to destroy the ability to unfold an interesting and beautiful landscape out of home environments. "
