 Services

Since most of our land is privately own, it's important that we consider what we do with and how we do things on our landscape, no matter how small, since we will benefit along with nature, with its care. Contact Good-Natured Landscapes to create a beautiful, functional, nature friendly landscape:

  • Prairie SmokeLandscape Design: Develop a customized detailed landscape design plan, whether you’ve got a small or a large yard, a new construction or an older landscape. A design can also include patios, walkways and decks, or other outdoor areas such as vegetable gardens, incorporating rain barrels and rain gardens, etc.  We can discuss your landscape over the phone/email, then schedule a free introductory visit to find your likes, dislikes, wants, needs, etc. and provide an estimate for a landscape design plan. It takes on average 2-4 weeks to finish a landscape design plan. Designs range from $350 to $950  for an average yard, but depends on size and complexity.
  • Plant Consultation:  Provide a 2-3 hour on-site consultation if you need a bit of help choosing plants for an existing area  less than 100-150 square feet.  2 hour minimum.
  • Rain Garden Design: Don’t let storm water run-off pollute our rivers, lakes and streams, or contribute to flooding and erosion, when you can have an attractive rain garden soak up and filter the water as nature intended. Or transform a wet, poorly drained area into a backyard oasis attracting birds and dragonflies.
  • Outdoor classroom: Discounted design of outdoor classrooms during the months of November-February for local schools.  Studies have shown that hands on experiences with nature are important to a child's imagination, creativity, physical and mental well-being, and future stewardship. Call for rates.
  • Save Money: For customers who want to do the installation themselves, Good-Natured Landscapes can help with plant purchases and layout once a plan is complete, and offer installation and maintenance suggestions that are environmentally friendly.
  • Contractor help: Good-Natured Landscapes is a design only company but can work with customers to get an estimate from a landscape contractor to do the installation and can be on-site during the installation or answer contractor questions as needed.
  • Landscaping with Natives Plants Class: A 60 minute class explaining the benefits of native plants and tips for using them in the your garden.  This is great for garden clubs and other organizations interested in learning about native plant gardening.
  • Scheduling: I’m available all year for the above services. Spring is the busiest time, followed by fall then summer, with winter being the slowest.
  • Questions?: Feel free to call/email and discuss the scope of your project, location, scheduling, and ask any initial questions. All services are charged at an hourly rate or cost of plants. Rates subject to change. Additional fees for longer travel distances (gas and time spent traveling). Estimates are given in good faith but may not be the final costs.

"My hope for what lies ahead in the field of landscape design is not a revolution against the use of non-natives, but a resolution to educate ourselves about what has worked for Mother Nature through the ebb and flow of time, and to put that knowledge to work in the planned landscapes that are everywhere a part of our lives."
- Lady Bird Johnson, 1912-2007
