GLEN ELLYN RAIN GARDEN PROJECT
This rain garden infiltrates most of the front corner downspout run-off. Paths provide access for exploration and maintenance. Existing limestone was recycled for paths and some sections of border. Rain garden overflow routes excess run-off into an existing public drainage swale.
BEFORE
This photo shows a small amount of standing water in the raingarden ~1 hour after a heavy rainfall. Eventually this standing water infiltrated into the soil 10 minutes later.

Existing paperbark maple was moved to a new garden bordering the driveway. Previous location near the front door (see BEFORE photo above) shaded homeowner’s new solar panels and did not have good “feng shui”.
